Hi, it’s Mike Kowalski from AMS. Welcome to this weeks Marketing Minute Tip. As you know, last week I delivered Part 1 of a 2 part Marketing Minute. In it we reviewed the first 2 of 5 different types of toll-free recorded message hotlines and how you can quickly determine which one best suits your needs.

The first two were the Information Hotline and the Information Hotline Without ID numbers.

Here are the final three:

3. Tree Hotline - This Hotline clearly identifies who you are and what you do. It gives the caller 3 or 4 choices of services they can listen to. This Hotline is best used with your image style ads. (ie, there is no question about who is sponsoring the ad). You can create specific mailboxes for different ads to see if the caller enters the ID number. You can also offer more universal offers and re-direct them into other mailboxes with other options.

This simulates a live conversation in that once the prospect is on the phone and it becomes clear the product or service they opted to get more information on isn’t really what they wanted…they can easily be redirected and access additional products and/or services that ARE better suited to their desires.

Here’s what I mean. The prospect saw an ad in the paper about a certain property. It had the 800 number and a 4 digit ID number underneath so they could get more information on that listing.

As they are listening to the information, they decide that the home is too big, too small, doesn’t seem to be what they had in mind, etc. so they hang up. Now if you were talking to them and they said this wasn’t what they were looking for, you, being a good sales person would say “Well, what are you looking for?” We transfer that concept to the Hotline by giving the option to access information on other properties once they’ve received a brief description of the home they originally called about.

Your message in that case would say something like, “If this home doesn’t meet your buying criteria and you would like a list of homes faxed or emailed to you enter 5 for our buyer profile system, or if you would like to buy this home or one like it with no money down press 4 for our 0 dollar down program.”

You can also test different types of scripts to see what prospects are most interested in.

Another way to use this type of hotline is for after-hours answering. Let’s say you are in the restaurant business. You might advertise your after-hours Hotline. It could give callers the option of listening to your menu, making a reservation, signing up for your newsletter or birthday club for a Free Dinner.

4. Testimonial Hotline - This is used when you want your clients to give you an audio testimonial. It could be used in a Testimonial Contest you have for your clients or right in the store for customers to record when you ask. You can also reverse the application and allow customers to call your Testimonial Hotline for proof of your claims.

5. Product Registration - This Hotline is for you if you’re not capturing the prospect’s name, address and phone number at the point of sale.

That’s it! Those are the 5 types of Toll-free Recorded Message Hotlines that could be converting 3 to 10 times more leads for you starting next week!

I am a frequent reader of your blog posts. I liked the recent one and other posts on your blog so much that I have subscribed to the blog’s RSS feed in Thunderbird. Even thinking of stealing some ideas and put them to work. Keep all the good work going by posting more informative posts. Thank you. Time well spent on this post.
